Domus Maria is a historic gem set in a former 15th-century Carmelite monastery. The minimalist rooms retain the monastic charm, offering peaceful views into tranquil courtyards. Just steps away from the breathtaking Gate of Dawn and several delightful eateries, the location is simply unbeatable. The breakfast buffet was a delightful surprise, showcasing a generous spread of local cheeses, meats, and fruits, served in a beautifully vaulted refectory.

The central heating wasn't operational during the early October stay, making the room a bit chilly. The TV only had one working English channel, and it failed to function for most of the visit. Also, the somewhat uncomfortable beds left something to be desired.

The location at the edge of Old Town made exploring so easy. Proximity to the Dawn Gate and nearby restaurants enhanced my stay. Breakfast options were extensive, with delicious local breads, meats, and cheeses. I appreciated having a kettle with tea options right in the room. The staff's amicable nature really stood out. they even offered us umbrellas when rain was forecasted! However, the Wi-Fi connection in my room was disappointingly poor, making it challenging to stay connected. Also, despite being clean, my room felt slightly austere without decorative touches. The sound isolation wasn't great, resulting in occasional disturbances from other guests in the hallway.

I felt the spirit of the place,,, the staff were always there when we needed them. The breakfast might be simple,,, but the peaceful atmosphere and wonderful staff made mornings pleasant.

the towels felt a bit worn out, but the breakfast spread was fantastic! ! loved the fresh pastries and multiple coffee options. the location was perfect, easily accessible to various shops and attractions. and the staff were super friendly and accommodating.

I stayed in a Double or Twin Room for 2 nights, and it was super cozy and clean. The beds were really comfortable, and I liked that the room had lots of electric sockets and good Wi-Fi. The breakfast was a nice spread too, especially with local options. Just a heads up, it can get a bit noisy at times from the hallway if you’re a light sleeper.

It's just a short walk to the main street, which is lined with beautiful churches and numerous restaurants. Additionally, the peaceful atmosphere provided a relaxing retreat after long workdays.

The linens could use an upgrade.
